It is a small complex of 24 villas, with sea views, balconies and access to a secluded beach. All rooms have A/C are spacious and eqquipped bathrooms and separate sitting areas. Their restaurant serves great local Cuban dishes and fresh seafood. Melia Sol Santa Maria is perfectly integrated into the natural environment of Cayo Santa María and offers a wide range of activities and tours for non- fishing guests and the beach offers a great attraction for partners and children.
There are flat boats available with 60 – 90 HP engines, all equipped for fly and spinning fisjhing, with cooler, life jackets, first aid kit, and radios.
The guides are all English speaking and experienced. This is still a relatively unknown fishing area but in the last few seasons it has proved to be particularly good for large tarpon. The tarpon fishing is world class. Fish from 10 to 40 lbs are present all year round and big fish up to 100 lbs+ are present especailly during the summer months. Combine this with other species such as Bonefish, Snook, Jack Crevalle, Barracuda, Sierra Mackerel and Snappers, gives this area a wide variety of different species to catch on the fly.
