Crocodile Bay Lodge

Crocodile Bay Resort is the world’s premiere eco/fishing lodge. It has luxurious accommodations, an incredible array of amenities, eco-tours, activities and up close and personal opportunities in the most bio-diverse area on our planet — namely the Osa Peninsula and Corcovado National Park. The Osa is the back yard to the lodge. Each room has two beds, private bath, hot water, telephone, cable TV, AC, ceiling fans and a security box. Offshore

It is not uncommon to raise more than 20 Billfish in a days fishing. Most Dorado coming to the dock have been over 30 lbs with Tuna always plentiful. You can likely catch a billfish any day of the year, with January through April the top months for marlin and sailfish along this region of the southern coast. There is also a good showing of marlin in August and November, while months during and just after the rains produce more dorado, as the debris washed out of the rivers forms the inshore trash lines they feed under. Various Tuna species are always present.

Inshore

Inshore fishing is consistent all year. Roosterfish and Cubera snapper are the main attraction. Snook roam the beaches as well as the rivers. A dozen other types of Snapper, Grouper, Amberjack, Bluefin Trevally and Barracuda cruise the reefs. Giant schools of Bonito bust bait in the gulf, great game for a fly rodder. This what makes the fishing unique in this area is the Golfo Dulce itself.

Estuary fishing

The Rio Esquinas enters the northwest corner of the gulf in a massive estuary system of creeks and mangroves. The drop off at the rivermouth quickly falls to more than 200 feet in depth, creating an ambush point for roosterfish, jack crevalle, snook and snapper. Rio Coto at Zancudo is also famous for its snook. Large schools of herring congregate on the flats in front of the river and with it schools of sierra mackerel, jacks and other game fish.

Captains, Boats and Tackle

The captains of Crocodile Bay Lodge have been fishing these waters for years and have rigged their boats with the finest stand-up casting, spinning and fly fishing equipment available. Whatever your wants and needs while fishing these waters, the captains can design for you the sport fishing trip of your dreams. Most of the captains are English speaking. Crocodile Bay’s has a fleet of 34-vessel;  33-foot Strikers, one 35-foot Striker, Boston Whalers and other type boats as well as flat boats to work the estuaries and rivers inshore. Several major rivers wind through the mangroves and dump rich nutrients into the gulf. These boats are built for fishing, comfort and safety. Each boat is equipped wish outriggers, depth finders, radios and excellent fishing tackle. Crocodile Bay Lodge is specialized in fly fishing and stand up light tackle fishing. The lodge supply fly rods and flies, others supply only bait, lures and gear for conventional fishing. Please feel free to bring your own equipment if you’d like. Rainforest and other activities

Golfo Dulce is at your front door and the primary rainforest at your back door. Relax on your private veranda and enjoy the wonderful panoramic view of the Golfo Dulce and the beautifully landscaped tropical gardens with a wide variety of exotic plants, flowers and birds. Crocodile Bay Lodge offers nice excursions for non –fishing companion while the fishermen are chasing the Sails. Nearby are beaches. Diseases or malaria do not exist here.
