El Pescador, Ambergris Cay
This colonial style lodge situated on a private beach is isolated and away from the tourism around San Pedro, but close enough to enjoy a day shopping or an evening in town. The lodge is located on the Bahia del Punta Arena. All rooms have a view to the ocean and guests of the lodge can take a dive at the private swimming pool. Bonefish flats are 10 - 20 minutes from the lodge and the Tarpon flats start 20 minutes from there. Most of the fishing is done from a skiff but there are also a few flats that can be waded. The bones are plentiful and run mainly from 2-5 pounds. The Tarpon flats are 3-8 feet deep, appr. 35 miles long by 15 miles wide. Not all Tarpon flats are fishable everyday due to changing weather conditions and currents. The Tarpon run from 10 to over 100 pounds; the average winter fish is about 50 pounds with the average summer fish being up to 100 Pounds. Permit,Jack, Barracuda, Cubera Snapper are found on the Bonefish flats and mangrove lagoons. At the Belizean reef is great fishing for Snapper, Grouper, Wahoo, Mackerels, Jacks and Barracuda. El Pescador is a great destination for non – fishing companions.
