Pira Lodge, Golden Dorado
Pirá is designed to provide its guests not only with a remarkable fishing experience, but also with maximum comfort. The lodge has five bedrooms, fully air-conditioned, with two double beds and large bathrooms. The rooms are open out to the shaded veranda with easy access to our 20-meter pool and a beautiful view of the surrounding wilderness. In addition to the comfort of a spacious sitting room, anglers will appreciate the convenience of a fly-tying table, a fly shop, fully equipped with flies, rods, reels and clothing. Gourmet dining with Argentina´s famed beef and fine wines, traditional BBQ´s, delicious regional as well as international cuisine desserts, and the bar, fully stocked with local spirits, contribute to create the setting for perfect moments at the end of a perfect day.
Dorados are hard-hitting, incredibly-strong, acrobatic fighters that attain weights in excess of 30-pounds. Dorados are exceptionally strong swimmers. Dorodo range in size from 5 to 10 pounds, but in fisheries like the Ibera Marshes 20-pounders are common.
Fly fishermen are best equipped with an 8-9-weight fly rod and either a 200 to 300 grain, 24 foot sinktip line or a full floating line depending upon water conditions. A heavy steel leader is a must. Dorados take a variety of streamers. Iberá Marsh allows excellent sight casting opportunities. Fishing with big streamer flies or casting flashy lures give the best results. Transport is provided from the lodge´s private dock to the fisheries in Hells Bay flat skiffs, fitted with VHF radios.
